TeamViewer - How to Start a Remote Session with IT

Teamviewer recently released an update to their application GUI (Graphical User Interface). These changes make the process of sharing your ID and password with IT a bit different but the process is the same at its core.
Follow along with these instructions to locate and share your ID and password.

In some cases IT will send a direct connection link to you. Simply click this click to launch TeamViewer to start the remote session.



1. Open Teamviewer then navigate to the second option on the left, called "Remote Support".

 

2. Click on the "Join a session" button.




3. Click the option "Connect to a TeamViewer ID"



4. Notice the section with "Your credentials". Simply copy your ID/Password and send this to the IT Specialist that is assisting you.

These credentials will be used to remote into your device so we can do hands-on troubleshooting.



5. Sit back and let IT work to identify and remediate the issue.


While we ask that you let go of the keyboard and mouse while we're remoted in, IT may have follow up questions or need additional information. Please keep an eye on Slack. Thank you.
